The Suffolk County Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for Southwest Suffolk County, in effect Thursday 10/30/2025 from 2 PM to 9 PM EDT. This alert comes in response to expected tidal conditions and onshore winds that may cause minor flooding in vulnerable shoreline areas.

🚨 What to Expect

  • Flooding of 1 to 2 feet above ground level in low-lying waterfront zones
  • Impacted areas may include roadways, parking lots, parks, lawns, and basements near the shore
  • High tide may bring more widespread minor flooding
  • Onshore winds and elevated tides are the primary drivers of this advisory

🛑 Safety First

Residents and business owners are urged to:

  • Avoid driving through flooded roadways—even shallow water can be dangerous
  • Move vehicles to higher ground before conditions worsen
  • Secure outdoor items or bring them inside to prevent damage or loss
