Suffolk County prosecutors have announced a sweeping 53‑count indictment against nine alleged members and associates of the Lowndes Block Gang (LBG), a Huntington Station–based group accused of years of violence, including two murders, multiple non‑fatal shootings, and a sex‑trafficking operation used to fund gang activity.
🔴 A Violent Pattern Spanning Years
According to Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney, the gang operated primarily around Lowndes Avenue in Huntington Station, using intimidation, firearms, and exploitation to maintain control of the neighborhood.
Key allegations include:
- Two murders, including the 2021 killing of Luis Cameron Rimmer‑Hernandez, allegedly ordered by gang leader Marques Scott, who prosecutors say instructed a 14‑year‑old to carry out the shooting.
- At least 10 non‑fatal shootings, some captured on surveillance video.
- Sex trafficking, which prosecutors say was used to generate revenue for the gang.
- Illegal weapons possession, including 11 firearms recovered during the investigation.
Authorities describe the gang as an offshoot of the Bloods, with a long‑standing presence in Huntington Station.
🔴 Teen Recruits & “Raise the Age” Concerns
Prosecutors emphasized that gang leaders exploited minors, taking advantage of New York’s Raise the Age law, which limits sentencing for juvenile offenders. DA Tierney argued that this allowed older gang members to use teens as “pawns” to carry out violent crimes.
🔴 Community Impact
Residents and families of victims expressed relief at the arrests. Christine Rimmer, grandmother of Cam Hernandez, said her grandson was “a wonderful kid” who crossed paths with the wrong people at the wrong time.
